A very tender thing. I picked up the box because I found it very lovely, and clearly quite old, but them was delighted to find this bit of paper with the beautifully penned name and address of its one time owner--Samuel Strang of Philadelphia-- and tiny whittled graphite pencil inside (which does indeed write!) Quite special feeling.
4 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 1" tall. All in good condition. Hairline split in the lid but it does not run the full length, has not been repaired, and is holding together just fine.
