Found in Maine, a happy family of old folk art chickens, each with a head that will bob up and down. I found them slotted into this orange painted rail, but they just as easily slide out to stand on their own. Painted on both sides, and each attached to a small wooden base. The chick has lost one leg but it doesn't bother it, and quite a wonderful little chick it is. 1940s or so I would guess.
As shown on rail, overall: 12" l x 8 5/8" t x 2 1/4" d. As note, the chick has lost one leg, but it does not effect its balance.
