I've long been admiring sets of stone blocks like this for years, but never have I come across a complete set, in excellent condition, in the original. box with slide top lid, and with the original design booklet showing examples of many structures one might build with them, and an extra booklet (from another set) to boot! This Union Building Blocks No. 6 set was produced by Richter & Cie Rudolstadt, Germany c. 1900 and weighs in at just over 7 pounds, without a chipped or cracked block that I can see. And the blocks are, I think, just beautiful, feeling rather less like toy blocks than means of building substantial small-scale architectures. A great gift for the aspiring designer or for coffee table play for anyone.
Box measures 12 3/4" x 9" x 1 3/4". There is one split toward to bottom of the slide top lid and another on the bottom of the box but it remains very sturdy and sound. The blocks are in great condition. There is wear and a few loose pages in the booklets but all pages seem to be here. There is a booklet corresponding to set No. 4 as well as set No. 6.
