This paper weaving came out of a kindergarten album dated 1909, which was bound in string that came apart in my hands, so I'm listing some of my favorite pieces individually. Paper weaving was a Froebel kindergarten activity, with materials for making them included in his Gift #14, though I don't believe this one was made from that particular paper. While one sees more complex paper weavings, some completed by kindergarten teachers rather than students, this is a simple one, which I like for exactly that reason, and its boldness in red and tan, which matches the backing paper..
Mounted on construction type paper. Weaving: 5 1/8" x 7". As mounted: 7 1/2" x 9 1/4". Weaving itself is in very good condition. Backing paper, to which is attached just along one edge, shows some stains, with holes along left edge.
