People who know me know I like my quiet, most of the time, really, and this is just the sort of sign I would hang above my desk (were my desk not the kitchen table or the coffee shop!) I also really love a double entendre--with the "retired" on this 1940s Pullman train sign reading more readily now as if referring to those among us no longer working (and not much tolerant of those raucous youngsters!) And in this case, with red ribbon wrapping the hole at top for hanging, it feels like the sign bears an inherent contradiction, feeling celebratory itself even while shushing the festivities.
9" x 6". Red ribbon is brittle and shedding a bit when handled. General wear, with a few creases and small corner losses.
