I came across these in a box of old salvaged quilt squares and thought they were just too pretty--and labored over!--not to retrieve. Their scale makes me think they were made to be pin cushions rather than quilt blocks, but I'm not entirely sure. I do believe they are pretty old and entirely stitched by hand--which is quite evident from the backsides, which I think are almost as lovely as the fronts. Perhaps pieces to be made into something new, now, or to my eye certainly worthy of popping in a frame or frames.
Just a bit irregular in size; they vary from about 4 1/2" to 5" per side. Very good condition, color is bright, stitching is tight, and fabric is in very good, clean condition.
