I'm not sure if this one was constructed with a purpose (i.e. as a key hanger!) or just as a playful sculpture-toy, but clearly whoever made was having fun, and a fun thing it is. The blue and yellow pedestal base and the red white and blue barrel at top were both originally props in a Schoenhut Circus set, late 19th/early 20th, which the maker of this joined via a metal rod, run through the center of a red stained wooden sphere/bead, from which extend four brass arms on the coordinals, a wooden bead suspended on each. Looks a bit like a four armed figure, and also a but like a science class model of four planets circling the sun in an alternative universe.
9 3/4" t x 5 1/4" d at wire arms. 2 1/4" d at base. The barrel at top can be removed but rod is pretty firmly implanted in the pedestal base. Une unpainted wooden bead shows some surface roughness/nibbling, as documented.
