So fun, and one has the very visceral sense that the young maker of this drawing was completely invested in the battle, which looks to be quite a free for all, with no easy sense of who is fighting who. I especially love the figure in the foreground at left, smoking gun in one hand and sword in the other! And it seems this drawing was part of a sequence of at least two--I found it along with a second drawing, which I'll include, of two ships sailing, one waving an American flag and the other a pirate flag.
Both 11" x 8 1/2". Crayon on cream paper, both in good condition, very boldly applied crayon!
