This is a striking pair of Japanese style faceted pottery cups with what I believe is a Yunomi form. Beautifully crafted, one features black horizontal stripes on against rust, the other one a pronounced waist and a rust and cream body. Distinctive from one another but terrific as a pair, these feel great to hold and would make great everyday tea (or coffee) cups, but would also work great as vases or small planters--or are just great sculptural objects on a shelf. They are stamped at the base of their sides with a prominent M (which led me to believe these might be the work of Warren McKenzie, but them M seems slightly different than his, and seems perhaps to intersect with an S.)
In excellent condition. The larger measures 3 7/8" tall x 3 7/8" wide; 2" across at base and 2 7/8" across at lip. The smaller measures 3 3/4" tall x 3 3/4" widest; 2" across at base and 2 1/2" across at lip.
