Look at the detail photos here just to see the bright eye-lashed eye of the bright yellow bird--if I wasn't already sold on this watercolor, that alone would have done it! The black inked features and pursed feeling little beak on the blue one are pretty excellent too--and those little feet clinging tightly to the branches. I believe the frame is older than the drawing--the former early 19th century I believe, with original, very thin and light in weight hand-blown glass, with a few notable bubbles visible in it, as shown. (I've gotten very attentive to the glass in frames of late, and very attached to frames with their original glass, the earlier and more full of character the better. And I'm attached to early frames like this with their original wire hangers at top too.) The drawing I think is probably late 19th c. or so, black ink (pen and ink) and crayon on paper.
7 1/2" x 5 1/4" framed. All in very good condition. Wood back on frame with some newer metal tabs closing it.
