These are really fun - a pair of Physics notebooks kept by a young Grace Zahn in 1910 (Grade 8A), who was clearly quite aesthetically oriented, and talented: wonderful diagrams and illustrations, and red inked block lettered headers, and a few pages of watercolors and drawings at the end of one of them that seem to have nothing to do with physics! Quite elaborate hand-drawn covers, too--the brown paper covers in fairly rough shape, but the pages inside in very good condition throughout, executed in a mix of ink, watercolor and graphite. I've documented many but not all of the pages--photos give a good sense (I couldn't stop myself!) And of course I find a lot of poetry in phrases/topics like "Kinds of Heat," "Magnetism," "Equilibrium" etc. She was especially great at drawing hands I'd say--I'd be very tempted to frame the pages with hands demonstrating Cohesion, Adhesion, etc., and many other pages too!
Both 9 1/2" x 7 1/2". I forget to count but about 50 pages between the two. Covers fairly brittle and showing losses as evident, with old tape holding along the top edges as shown. Inside pages in very good condition and not brittle, ink and color strong throughout, pretty much each page featuring a good diagram, or excellent header, or both. Pages filled front and back, with no notable bleed through. My photos show a few of my favorite pages first, then a series of pages in order from each notebook.
