Painted Old Folk Art Wooden Rabbit with Blue Coat

Regular price $45.00

I love a good bunny, and this may be my favorite ever. It was definitely made quite a long time ago—the aging to the painted surface is just gorgeous—and, with that wonderful blue jacket, I’d bet was inspired by Peter Rabbit (first published in 1902.) He may have been a pull toy, or a door stop, as there are two well worn holes near the bottom. I really love his deadpan expression, with whiskers that look like arrows pointing towards his nose, and then what look like stand alone blue pockets against the creamy white body. Really great.

Fantastically aged, with a bit of exposed wood at the tip of one ear. The backside is painted black.  8 3/8” tall x 3 5/8” wide x 1/2” thick.
