My love for 19th century English transfer decorated childsware never ends, and I'm all the happier when there is an alphabet incorporated! On this plate, it is completely the imagery that sold me though--every face and uniform as good as the next, and the chase for the ball itself struck me as an excellent metaphor for the moment (tech bros chasing AI dominance just as one example!...politicians chasing senate seats might be another.) Detail photos to my eye are pure pleasure, down to the various sorts of hats worn by spectators gathered in the back. And with hand-painted color additing to the drama perfectly.
6 7/8" d. Very good condition, marked on the underside Charles Allerton & Sons, England.
