A total charmer, and older Mexican folk clay animals in this manner are quite hard to come by. With its long legs and tall ears, I take this creature for a coyote. Wonderful face, wonderful tail, wonderful yellow, and with quite a patina that makes it seem that it may have been incorporated into an alter, accruing some of the soot. Terrific.
3 3/4 t x 2 1/2 w x 1 7/8 d and in good structural condition, no notable chips or cracks that I see. I'm not sure exactly what the form is at the base between its legs but I think perhaps for holding a stick of incense, which would make sense with the blackening of the surface around it.
