Another animal on wheels--this one of a smaller scale, and all about the great silhouette of this camel. I am pretty sure it is more than 100 years old, and you can really feel the care invested in its making. Based on the scale and nail at the front of the rolling base, I think it was likely part of a chain/train, which probably included several animals linked together. The bottom is signed in pencil by its maker but a bit difficult to read--Donald Joseph something...
There is some wear to the surface of the stained and lightly varnished wood on the face of the camel on both sides, which just makes it feel like it's been loved. Otherwise, great antique condition--sturdy, wheels turn smoothly, and really charming. 5 1/2" l x 4 1/2" t x 2 1/2" w.
