I bought this one at Brimfield from a marvelous dealer whom I've bought a series of small wonders. Though a lover of ships in bottles, I myself had never seen a ship in a lightbulb before, which struck me as brilliantly resourceful--and also enhancing of the sense of wonder these provoke in me at least. Of course, given the ingeniousness of folk creators, I have since turned up documentation of a few other examples, most dating to the 1940s or so, and at least one of them known to have been created by a prisoner of war in WW2. This one is at least that old, and very much better in hand.
4 1/4" l x 2 5/16" t. Some loss to the green paint on the interior of the glass along the top of the background, as documented--somewhat more pronounced in photos. Overall good condition, with very charming details.
