Nicely Crafted, Old Metal Grasshopper (Japanese Okimono?)

Regular price $40.00

It seems to me likely that this grasshopper is Japanese, made in the tradition of "Okimono" insects crafted by makers of Samurai armour and given as tokens of good luck. (One photo example included--very similarly crafted to this one.) Whatever the case, nicely done, and clearly with a good bit of age to it--and of course grasshoppers as the luckiest insects of all, representing good fortune as well as happiness and joy.

3 5/8" l x 1 1/16" t x 7/8" w (at antennae.) I'm not certain of the types of metal here, but the wings and body are nicely silvery. Some rust and surface wear as evident; sturdy and sound and lovely.
