I like the jarringness of this seeming tear of a view through total blackness--with the sky and trees revealed seeming of little consequence, which turns one attention back to the shape of the tear itself. It's the combination of photo with the caption on the back that makes this for me though: Mt Rushmore, 1940. Ha. Perfect.
