To my eye and sensibilities this is completely delicious, and happily there are two sides to enjoy. (Of course I'd love to have the whole ledger this came from, but it would have been a massive thing to carry around!) I purchased five leafs from wonderful dealer friends at the Taconic show (all they had; this and two others listed today) and would be happy to have them surrounding me for the rest of my life. The year 1929 is written among the sample numbers on one page; the colors and patterns are glorious; and I love the way the grid of the paper is used to guide but not dictate the size and arrangement of the fabric samples. All are fine flannels, with a beautiful spectrum represented across this and the other pages. Love.
19 1/2" x 14 1/2". Good condition. Dated 1929. I had to shoot this under fluorescent lights (which I hate) due to its scale...it's all the more beautiful and of course tactile too, in hand.) A few samples missing as evident, but I quite like the sense of syncopation that creates, and fabrics themselves are in very good condition. A little toning/roughness/unevenness/small losses around the far edges of the heavyweight paper.
