Springtime always seems to put me in the mood to buy pottery—whether vases for flowers or a colorful bowl like this that just feels sunshine. There is a very faint “Germany” mark on the underside, which was often used for post-war West German pottery while West and East were divided (and clearly this is a mid-c. piece, but I am not certain of the maker and haven’t been able to find its likeness out there. Whatever the case, it takes a pretty striking piece of mcm pottery to get me excited at this point, and I think this is most definitely that, with just a subtle lava texture to the glaze pale on the face and a very pale eggshell-like yellow on the underside.
Perfect size for serving, as a centerpiece, on the counter or just for display. 11 3/8” in diameter x 2 15/16” t. There is one small rim chip, possibly repaired, as detailed; pretty minor and minimally detracting.
