One (two, really) of my favorite recent Brimfield finds--I could photograph these two all day, who I think have just tons of life in them, and with a relationship between the two of them rich and nuanced and continually unfolding! While they might at first appear kid made, I would guess they were in fact made by an artist who knew exactly what they were doing--my first thought when I found them was of Magdalena Suarez Frimkess. (They are clearly not hers, but at least to my eye they have a very definite confidence and sophistication.) Often I find things reveal how good they are when placed them alongside other things, and these two at least to my eye stand with the best of them.
Her: 4 5/8” t x 4 1/4” w. Him: 4 1/4” t x 3 3/8” w. Solid and heavy. Both in good condition, with a few minor glaze chips here and there and she appears to have a repaired foot, which I only noticed when looking from the underside. He is initialed on the the back with what looks like JG. Sold as a pair, as they were clearly meant to be together forever!
