An exceptional, and exceptionally well preserved, example of a framed hair album page, mid 19th century or so. Sixteen locks representing a spectrum of hair shades, each artfully braided and/or looped in an arching wreath of sorts (but for one left at bottom right left as cut locks), all tethered with a pale blue or cream colored ribbon and arranged in a neat grid on paper that appears to have been folded into sixteenths as a guide. Super crisp and clean and as good as I've seen. Found in Maine, in a lacquered frame, with original blown glass and wood black, where I believe they have live a long time.
9 3/4" x 7 3/4". 19th century frame with original blown glass and wood back. Excellent condition, with just some general wear to the surface of the frame as there should be.
