I'd place this among my favorite finds ever; it's a little thing, but a super special one, teeming with love and care and charm. It's an antique handmade needle book, Victorian era I believe, with watercolor paintings on the front and back board covers, a pink velvet spine, green paper lining, four flannel pages inside for holding needles, each hand stitched around the edges, and a dark pink ribbon for tying it closed. Most of all of course it's all about that wonderful white cat! Just a great little painting, which remains in terrific shape, and then pretty painted violets on the backside, oriented horizontally, and also lovely. Love love.
3 5/8" x 2 11/16 x 1/8" closed. The flannel pages inside are somewhat moth eaten, but the book itself is in very good shape, structurally sound, with the hand-stitched binding holding tight. There is wear to the velvet fabric spine and one of the ribbon ties is detached (but stitched to the front page of the inside for safekeeping.) The cat painting is in excellent condition; there is some darkening to the flower painting but it still looks great.
