This is a special one, purchased from a dealer with one of the very best eyes I know, who kept company with it for some time but placed it within my reach at the Taconic show and I promptly scooped it up. It is an antique yarn ball, specifically a Pennsylvania Amish I believe, and a rare one for having two mirrors incorporated, at opposite ends. At least three layers of yarn, with a good bit of loss to the orange, and then undyed thread wrapped to create stars around the mirrors, aptly in the manner of "God's eyes", and diamonds around sides.
3" diameter. Wool yarn and cotton thread with two inset mirrors. Loss to the orange wool yarn as evident, but stable and sound and not at all unravelling, and I rather like the layer underneath being exposed. Sturdy and firm, not soft and squeezable.
