It is particularly the very elongated, undulating form of this swan's head and beak that really makes it special to me, giving it a sense of kinship with my favorite root head decoys. I also like that the neck was done as a separate piece, allowing this swan to crane its neck in various directions! Signed MW on the underside, which has not lead me to its maker, but whoever it was certainly knew what they were doing. Lovely.
6 3/4" l x 4 1/4" t x 3 5/8" w. Very good condition, mid-century I would guess, with a bit of spotting to the wood on its back, just a bit of surface cracking at far front and tail, and a lighter spot at the tip of its beak, visible from one side.
