Lovely Large Old Whimsy Rattle

Occasionally I will purchase something online where dimensions are not noted, as was the case with this whimsy rattle, which I imagined was tiny, but which turned out to closer to a barbell--well, not quite, but it's 7 inches long! As such, it's really a great and substantial object, which indeed makes a terrific rattle sound when shaken. A great gift for a little one--and pretty indestructible--but also really nice to keep on the desk, maybe holding down some papers and very satisfying to pick up and rattle around while thinking. 

Quite old I think and beautifully aged, with a really nice weight. 7" long x 2 3/8" in diameter.
