Lovely 1830 Needlepoint of Parrot on Branch with Monogram in Early Frame

Regular price $175.00

An early and beautifully done needlepoint of a parrot executed in wool on perforated paper--with a note on the back of the antique frame written by a Susan Frazar Kennedy, noting is having been worked in 1830, I presume by a relative, perhaps her mother, with the monogram MEF. What I love most about the needlepoint itself is that fabulous  border, with triangles and squares of directional stitching, in cream and a sort of khaki green, adding up to larger quilt-like geometric patterns, with a real lushness about it all. Lovely. And clearly it has lived in this frame for a very long time, which suits it perfectly.

8 3/4" x 6 3/4", original frame, under glass. Sight 7 5/8" x 5 3/4" All in very good antique condition.
