A nice small oil on wood panel landscape signed L Lamboley--which has led me pretty much nowhere, but s/he does seem to have handwritten what amounts to something of a artist's resume on the back of the painting: professor at the Ecoles Normales; professor at the Ecole Professionnelle Elisa Lemonnier, Paris (named for the founder of vocational education for women in France); student at l'Ecole de Beaux Arts; and then I believe two citations of exhibitions (Salon des Artistes and Salon de la Societe Nationale.) Not a whole lot of drama to the painting itself, but sometimes lush green trees and grass and a patch of blue sky feel like most welcome things!
6 7/16" x 9 7/16". Good antique condition. There are a couple of small white paint dabs that feel a bit out of place, and maybe a few dabs on the trunk of the tree too, but with magification they seem original to it.
