I don't know the story of how this A.P Hart (Elmira, NY; 1860s-90s) cabinet card photograph came to be modified, but I really love the effect, and it appears that the scraping away of the hair, eyebrows, beard and handlebar mustache was done quite a long time ago, as there is some age toning on top. Perhaps the intent was to imagine what this young man would look like many years down the road? In any event, now certainly a work of art!
