All of the shoe-shaped snuff boxes I've found have been pocket sized, made to carry around, but this one would have stayed at home, in the parlor or library perhaps, and held a much larger stash of snuff. I like it's clean, elegant form, and it would be useful now for stashing all sorts of things. C. 1900 and with a thin coat of varnish I believe.
7 3/16" l x 2" w x 2 3/8" t and in excellent antique condition, with hinges firmly attached and opening and closing with ease.
