One of my very favorites of the week, and definitely among my very favorite tool finds ever. This is a one of a kind 24 inch folding ruler, proudly signed by the John Schulz of Detroit, USA who made it, and who I might guess was a machinist of some sort. I believe it is made of nickel, very shiny, with incised lines marking every 1/8th of an inch, and the inches marked with numbers written out in tiny dots. A really sweet combination of sleek form and folky detailing--our John definitely knew how to fabricate things, but his free-hand engraving make his humanity feel emphatically present. Wonderful.
24 inch rule. Open 24" x 5/8". Closed 6 3/8" x 1 9/16". Very good condition, closes up tight, with pins holding the sides together, and opens out smoothly.
