This beautiful vintage Japanese lacquer box, circa 1920s-40s, features an elegant relief design in shades of silver, gold and copper depicting floating bridges or rafts, flower and leaves. Fine lines suggesting reeds extend gracefully across the lid and down the front side of the box. The box is in excellent overall condition, with very light spotting to the surface of the lacquer visible under bright light, as documented here.
This finely made box would be striking displayed on a desk, coffee table, or vanity, and would make a wonderful addition to any collection of fine boxes or Asiatica.
