This is one of new batch of antique math and geometry notebooks just in--from a bookseller in England whose late husband collected them, and happily so. This one belonged James Gifford and dates to 1804; I'd guess he was the father of Samuel Gifford, who a few others belonged to.
This one, with hand-marbled paper soft cover, is only partially filled, leaving plenty of room for more geometry should one be so inclined! The pages that are filled are very prettily and precisely done, with a few beautiful little diagrams mixed in, and a lovely table for calculating the areas and perpendiculars of various polygons.
7 5/8" x 9 1/4". 22 pages total; 12 pages filled (23 fronts and backs). Some damage to the back cover, as pictured. Otherwise, a little staining to the bottom right corner of the first few pages, minor; overall very good condition.
