One of two more Inuit carvings from a handful I bought last week, I believe all of which came from one collection, and to my eye a very good collection as I was tempted to buy many more. Not as frequent a subject as a seal or a bird or a figure, and I especially love the treatment of this otter's flipper-like paws, especially the hind ones as they grip the rock he balances on, as if holding very tight--with his tail doing the same from the back side. I also love how it holds this fish tight against its chest in a gesture which, together with its stance, make it feel very protective of that fish, indeed! Nicely unfolding all the way around.
4" t x 1 7/8" w x 1 1/2" and in very good condition, with sticker, syllabic signature and disk number on the underside.
