Impressionistic Small Painting of Woman Sewing with Pot of Flowers

A very tender, almost reverent little painting I think, oil on hardboard, of what I take for a woman sewing or mending, and who, dressed all in black, seems quite likely in a state of mourning. I especially love the handling of the potted flowers to her left, looking to me perhaps like a flurry of pale poppies, and the very subtle halo of lighter brown around her. Quiet and lovely.

5 7/8" x 3 15/16" and in very good condition. Signed at lower left but indecipherable. C. 1920s or so I would guess.
