This wonderful old barn-shaped wood and wire bird cage was clearly made with a lot of love and care, and it is wonderfully wonky, with no right angles to be found! To me it's like a three-dimensional drawing, a beautiful interplay of lines in space. My favorite thing about it, though, may be its tension-mounted door, which takes a strong pull to open, then closes with a very satisfying thwack! Definitely this could still be used to house a little bird, but would also be great filled with a plant or two, or just hung and enjoyed as the fabulous sculptural object that it is.
Based on one similar that I have found, I believe this birdcage dates from the 1930s or so. It measures 8 1/2" tall x 7 3/4" long x 5 1/2" wide and in great vintage condition.
