Admittedly, this is a bit of a weird one, but this Russian looking hand puppet feels pretty timely--and his face rather reminds me of that of Donald Trump, too! Super handy for enacting politically inspired puppet shows or just satisfying the desire to manipulate a despot!
I do think this painted papier-mache face is quite spectacular, fantastically sculpted with long, sharp nose, snarling, partially open painted red mouth, and wonderfully detailed eyes, complete with bags underneath. And then the real fur hat! Plus, a leather pocket sewn onto the outside of his dress on one side, presumably for holding a knife close at hand. Strangest are the arms--one entirely missing, but the other a pipe cleaner attached to a real little animal claw, which just sort of dangles. Fabulously strange and surely one of a kind!
19 12" tall x 13" wide with dress fully spread; head measures 4 1/2" wide x 4" deep. Good vintage condition, with missing arm as noted:) One's hand fits easily inside the puppet, and there is a hole inside the head for a few fingers. He's also easy to fit over a bottle or vessel for display:)
