When I your love remember / Such wealth it brings / That them I scorn to change / My state with kings.
A bit of an unusual rhyme, which gives a bit of an extra bite to the bleeding arrow on the other heart, as if shooting away others wanting to take our writer's place! I'm clearly a sucker for a handmade valentine, and also a great frame, which is definitely the case with this old carved one, detailed with gold paint that to my eye subtly echoes the form of a shooting arrow.
8 13/16" x 6 1/4" framed, with a bit of unraveled thread at one end of the red bow tying the valentines. The frame is in excellent shape, recently re-papered on the back and strung to hang. There is some glare in photos.
