I’d just been thinking of all of the magnificent art nouveau architectural elements and doorways in Paris when I came across this antique wooden double shelf, a wonderful homespun art nouveau moment. It has lost some of its original gold paint here and there, especially on the surfaces of the shelves, but I love it all the more for the wear and mellowing. There are two hangers on the back, one just above each shelf, for securing it to the wall, and though I wouldn’t put very heavy things on it it would be a great one for arranging a handful of objects on and around—a few whimsies and sculptural finials perhaps, even better if they too show some old gold paint!
Dimensions: 14 3/8" t x 8 1/4" w x 5 3/4" deep. Sound and with no structural issues that I can see, I'd just be a little gentle with it as the paint will still flake a bit. Very early 20th century I believe.
