I'm really smitten with this sweet little hand-painted German porcelain figurine of a pink cheeked, shirtless young man with dukes up! He is about the gentlest young boxer one might envision, appearing more disposed to taking a swim than taking a punch! Rendered in a manner that seems inspired by a pair of early19th century Staffordshire boxing figures (though certainly not as fine as those) I would guess this boxer dates from the 1940s or so. Just a wonderful little presence to have around!
2 3/4" tall x 1 1/4" wide x 3/4" deep. "Germany" is impressed on the rear side of the base along with a mark that I can't quite make out. Very good condition, with light wear consistent with age.
