I have to think this sweet hand-carved corkscrew was inspired by the somewhat iconic modern brass cat shaped corkscrew by Austrian designer Richard Rohac, circa 1950, which it mirrors to a t. I really like the thought of its maker, upon seeing (and perhaps coveting) that one, decided to make his or her own version in wood. And I think they did a pretty great job, creating a softer, homespun version of the mid-century classic. Very sweet, and this one provides a better grip!
Cat measures 3 1/8" across; 5" long with corkscrew. 2 3/8" tall, 3/4" thick. Very good vintage condition, with light wear.
