I'm guessing from the signature on the bottom of this fantastic pottery bat vessel--KCL 10--that it was made in the 21st century, but I think its got a bit of a pretty strong Arts and Crafts sensibility from a hundred years prior. At any rate, what a great thing to stash a few things inside for safe keeping; those eyes are always watching!
Nicely done, from pointy ears to spiky toes, and with great texture on the wings in between. There are a few inherent imperfections to the glazing around the neck, and one other flaw I only noticed in the process of taking close up photos, and which I think is original to the piece: there is a thin split on one side of the neck, which I think likely happened in the firing of the piece. See photos for detail. It's minor and really not noticeable unless you are looking for it. 6 7/8" tall x 3 1/2" wide x 2 3/4" deep.
