Group of Antique Wooden Boxes

Regular price $80.00

I truly believe one can never have too many boxes;  boxes inside of boxes on top of boxes and so on!  All of these are antique and have certainly been around. The two largest have sliding tops, with the sides of the darker joined by nails and the lighter with lovely dovetail joints. Sitting on top of them are a couple of barrel shaped boxes, which probably would have been used to hold thread or buttons. Finally, a cylindrical box with domed lid and wonderful proportions--so pretty.

These boxes show their age, which is what I love about them, but there is some dryness and light cracking to the woods in places. Also, the dovetail box is missing the edge trim on one end of its sliding top, as pictured; it opens and closes fine but does not have the same totally flush closure as the other sliding top box.

Light wood slider: 8"x 4 5/8" x 3 1/8"

Dome lidded box: 4 3/8" tall, 2" diameter.
