Charming Little 19th C. Naive Lion Drawing in Period Frame

Regular price $45.00

This old hand-drawn lion looks as if it must have been inspired by a heraldic one, but how much better naively rendered in what looks to be a mix of crayon and graphite, with black ink for the eyes. Marvelous folky face, and those huge paws with what look like a few extra toes really do it for me! With "lion" written in ink at lower left, making me think most likely this was a school drawing.

5 7/16"x 4 3/8" framed. Sold in the period frame I found it in, where I think it has lived for a very long time. Frame shows a small loss to the veneer at lower right. With original wood backing. I have not removed it from the frame but it is clearly in very good condition with minimal toning.
