Grand Lake Stream, Maine 1970s Carved Wooden Plaque of Unhappy Hiker

Regular price $26.00

What I love most about this funny old carved souvenir plaque are the two tiny figures at lower left waving to the hiker protagonist from a distance; I'm not sure whether they completed the hike hours ago and are waiting on the slow father, or whether they are random bystanders just cheering him on! In any case, I think it's pretty good, and a fun gift for a reluctant outdoors-person.

Fyi, Grand Lake Stream is in the northeastern-most part of Maine, named for the stream that flows through the town and and famous for salmon fishery as well as a long, local tradition of hand-built wooden canoes. It seems that The Village Gift Shop, stamped on the back of this plaque, is no more.

6" x 5 1/2" x 1/2". Hook at top for hanging. Signed MC '76 at bottom right. Some aging to the surface of the wood but overall very good condition.
