This is not my typical sort of find, but this old iron chain is simply gorgeous, and I could not not bring it home with me. It weighs about 3 1/2 pounds, and the iron is a really rich charcoal black, in spectacular condition; to me, it reads as pure sculpture. It's definitely got age, showing some wear where the links overlap, just right. I'm not sure what its original use would have been, but certainly it would hold a great weight.
Just shy of 20" long. The links are 3 1/2" long x 2" wide, with the iron 5/8" thick. Definitely an excellent thing to incorporate into an artwork, but also a perfect thing just as it is.
