Goodall & Sons C. 1890 British No Indices Playing Cards, Complete 52 Card Deck

Sale price $110.00 Regular price $130.00

I hadn't found any antique playing cards in a long time then found two decks in rapid succession, this being the latest. These were made by Goodall & Sons, who traded in the UK from 1822 to 1920, with the lack of indices (numbers) and the square corners dating these to the 19th century for sure. They were printed on heavy weight card, like thin cardboard, so are extra nice to handle, feeling very substantial. In addition to that I think they're just gorgeous, especially those super rich black clubs and spades, with the bleeding edges that I love. And the backs feature a lilac pattern with violet contrasts in a quasi-celtic pattern, which I understand from the seller connotes guilty pleasure. A complete 52 card deck, ready to play!

Cards measure 3 5/8" x 2 1/2" and are in good condition, with some smudging and stains here and there, pretty minor.
