An early creamware child's mug, c. 1810-20, with that best style of lettering along the bottom, pink luster rim, and five colors of hand-painted decoration over the transfer. Whether one is a believer or not, I'll never argue with an appreciation for the beauty and bounty of the land and creatures who occupy it--or for the use of the word beneficence! And as a lover of make do, I rather appreciate that the handle here looks to have been replaced at some point with a (nearly) matching one from another mug.
2 11/16" t x 2 11/16" d; 3 1/2" across at handle. Repaired/replaced handle as noted, otherwise very good antique condition.
