It's not too often I come across one of these double slates with the halves still attached and the perimeter wraps--which made them "silent"--still well attached all the way around, plus a slate pencil attached with a string to boot. There is a bit of wear to one of the two ribbons making the hinge, which I'd be happy to add a couple of stitches to in order shore it up completely (just let me know), but otherwise it's in great shape. I love the combination of felt and string and nails wrapping the wooden frames, and of course the sense of a long history of marks that have been made across the surface of each slate.
8 7/8" x 7" x 3/4" when closed. Overall very good condition, with a bit of loss to one ribbon hinge as noted.
