I've become a bit obsessed with folk objects carved from marble--the carving of stone with such formal connotations in a very unclassical manner really really appeals to me. This fox head, weighing in at just over 10 pounds, is a perfect case in point--rather irrational in all respects, but what a thing! It's a bit of an awkward one to display as it won't stand up on its own, but would work set on a shelf resting on its nose, or leaning back against something, or on a stand of some sort, or flat on a table with its nose pointing up! Not expertly carved, but to my sensibilities really fabulous.
8 1/4" t x 9 1/2" w x 7 3/4" d. Good condition, with plenty of irregularities to the stone and the carving but no issues. There are a couple of small drawn marks on the marble near the top of the nose, drawn in graphite I believe and perhaps erasable, but in any case pretty minor.
